Four Miami Law alumni were honored recently at the annual Broward and Palm Beach receptions in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
The Law Alumni Association presented the Alumni Achievement Award to Michelle Diffenderfer, JD '94, and David I. Spector, JD '96 at the Palm Beach Judicial Reception in the West Palm Beach office of Akerman LLP.
Diffenderfer, a shareholder at Lewis, Longman & Walker, represents clients in environmental, administrative, zoning and land use issues. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Environment, Energy and Resources; Northwood Greenlife, Inc.; and Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.
A partner at Akerman, Spector practices commercial litigation with an emphasis in the investigation and litigation of complex fraud schemes and unfair and deceptive practices on behalf of insurance companies. As a student at Miami Law, Spector was involved with the Moot Court Board.
The Broward Judicial Reception was held at the offices of Tripp Scott in Fort Lauderdale. The Law Alumni Association presented the Alumni Achievement Award to Arnold Grevior, JD '55, and the Alumni Leadership Award to Stacey Schulman, JD '02.
Grevior is a noted attorney and generous supporter of Miami Law's Animal Law Program. In over five decades of practicing law, Grevior has worked in diverse areas – from prosecuting criminals to personal injury law to a municipal judge. As rewarding as his experiences have been, his most passionate cause involves the care and treatment of animals. Grevior has established an endowment fund to support animal advocacy at Miami Law. A self-proclaimed animal lover, the Ft. Lauderdale resident has been active with the Humane Society of Broward County as well as a supporter of several animal focused organizations.
Schulman began her career at the State Attorney’s Office in Broward County where she spent almost 9 years prosecuting offenses ranging from sex crimes to homicides to organized crime and gang matters. She is currently practicing at Greenspoon Marder in the areas of labor and employment litigation. Schulman graduated first in her class at Miami Law, and was a member of the Moot Court Board and the University of Miami Law Review.
The Alumni Achievement and Leadership Awards recognize Miami Law alumni whose professional achievements, leadership and service to the legal community are noteworthy.
