Miami Law is launching a three-part CLE* series, “Mindfulness for Lawyers,” exploring the connections between mindfulness and the practice of law, the science of mindfulness, and a selection of mindfulness practices.
Two introductory sessions, one held on December 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and another offered on January 20th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., will touch upon areas to be explored in the series. After the introductory sessions, Session 1 of the series “Mindfulness, Focus and the Practice of Law “ takes place on Tuesday February 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Miami Law campus, in the 4th floor Faculty Meeting Room. Session 2 continues discussion of the same topic and will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The series delves into mindfulness as a form of stress reduction; how the development of focus and concentration is associated with a variety of other professionally relevant skills, such as the ability to regulate motions during challenging periods of high stress; learn ways to integrate this practice into a busy workday, as well as discussions of how the practice relates to professional lives as attorneys, drawing on real life experiences and challenges.
