Jaret Davis, J.D. '99, Administrative Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and Secretary of the Law Alumni Association, will be honored with the Ruth Shack Community Leadership Award at the annual Leave A Legacy Donor Next Door Luncheon in May.

Each year, the Ruth Shack Community Leadership Award is presented to an emerging leader who embodies the qualities for which Ms. Shack is known: ethics, dedication and service to Greater Miami. With this award, The Miami Foundation and Leave A Legacy seek to encourage further work on the part of the recipient and hope to motivate others to follow the recipient's lead in service.

Davis graduated magna cum laude from Miami Law where he was a member of the executive editorial board of the University of Miami Law Review. He also served as a member of the Moot Court Board, was the Catsman Fellow for the School of Law's Center for Ethics and Public Service and the first African-American Chief of the Iron Arrow Honor Society, the leading honor society at the University of Miami.

Davis was a member of the Florida finance committee and assisted in the formation of the Miami steering committee for the Barack Obama '08 presidential campaign. He also served as a Co-Chair for "Generation Barack Obama," the young professionals outreach group.

He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Miami Leadership Circle of the American Diabetes Association and as a member of the University of Miami Law Review Alumni Advisory Board and the University of Miami's Citizens Board. He also serves on a number of boards, including those of Miami Children's Hospital (where he chairs the Board's Technology committee), the American Diabetes Association, Friends of Little River, the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews and City Year (Miami).

Davis has been listed in South Florida's 100 Most Accomplished Blacks in Healthcare and Law and further featured among the "Lumina 10 in Law." In addition, Davis was named among the South Florida Business Journal's "40 Under 40" and was recently selected as a Florida Super Lawyers magazine 2009 "Rising Star."
