Federal Rules, Constitution and BlueBook

  • Rulebook This app already includes a vast library of downloadable rules, such as the Federal Rules of Civil/Criminal Procedure; in 2012 they added the 19th edition of The Bluebook as well!   • Nolos' Plain English Law Dictionary In addition to the 4000+ legal terms defined in easy-to-understand language, this app allows you to suggest terms you feel they have left out, search an attorney directory, and access the dictionary portion even without access to internet.   • The Law Guide In addition to a legal dictionary (not requiring the internet to be searched), this app houses articles on a variety of legal topics, a legal forum for users to reach out to others, and several legal documents, including the Constitution.   • The Essay Simulator For the CA bar exam only, this app allows you to type out answers to past CA essay questions and compare your answers to the model answers - app by the "Bar Exam Doctor". Available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad ($0.99)

  • Wolfram Lawyer's Legal Assistant Provides a variety of services for the legal professional, such as statutes of limitations for all fifty states, a dictionary of legal terms, as well as calendaring services and crime rate and demographic data. Available for iPhone and iPad ($4.99)
  • My Legal Projects Helps attorneys prioritize tasks and set reminders; "ideal for summer associates" because it allows you to take note of assignments as they are assigned, and saves the notes for later use with Westlaw Next, handily linked to the app. Available for iPhone and iPad ($1.99)
  • Time Master + Billing For tracking billable hours on the go; includes the ability to track and categorize expenses and export billing and expense reports; additional in-app purchases include a means to invoice clients directly from the app . Available for iPhone and iPad ($9.99)
  • Court Days Calculate court days or calendar days before and/or after a given date. Available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad ($0.99)

  • Deponent App Access to a range of deposition questions to help with preparation and organization of depositions; also includes folders for storing outlines prepared for certain depositions and an exhibit folder where exhibits in multiple formats can be uploaded and stored for use in the deposition or court.   • Exhibit A Assists with organizing and presenting exhibits in court; you control what others see and when; mark-up features allow you to highlight and emphasize certain aspects of your exhibit; multiple media types are supported. Available for iPad ($9.99)

Federal Government

Find everything you need to know about the U.S. government from the comfort of your mobile device with these apps.   • Bill of Rights: The full text of the Bill Rights. Supports multiple languages. ($1.99)
  • The Congressional Record: The Library of Congress has created a great free app for reading the daily edition of the Congressional Record on an iPad or iPhone.
  • Congress in Your Pocket: This suite of apps from Cohen Research Group provides frequently updated directories of elected officials and their staff. Apps are available for iOS, Android and Blackberry devices.
  • MyCongress: This free app provides detailed information about Congressional officials. Available for iOS and Android
  • Real Time Congress: Available from the Sunlight Foundation for iPhone and iPad, this app allows users to track real-time information about Congress from their mobile device.
  • OyezToday: This app from the Chicago-Kent College of Law provides access to current U.S. Supreme Court case abstracts, audio recordings and full opinions. It is available for Android devices.
  • PocketJustice: Also from Chicago-Kent College of Law, the PocketJustice app is available for iOS and Android devices in both free and paid versions. It provides access to a wealth of U.S. Supreme Court information, including cases, voting information and biographies of Supreme Court Justices.
  • White House: This official White House app provide up-to-the-minute information from the White House including photos, videos, blogs and streaming White House events. It is available from for iOS and Android devices and is also available as a mobile website.
  • Budget of the U.S. Government for FY2013: This mobile website from the GPO provides mobile access to the fiscal year 2013 Budget book and summary tables.
  • GAO: The Government Accountability Office offers an app that has the latest Congressional testimony, legal decisions and reports from the GAO. It is available for iOS and Android devices
  • Super PAC App: Created by a Harvard Kennedy School student and an MIT student, this free app gives users objective information about the claims made in political ads by detecting which ad is playing through its audio track. Currently only available for iOS devices.

  • The Florida Bar Mobile Apps A free mobile App that allows members and the general public to access Florida Bar News articles addressing issues of interest to the legal profession and a quick member look up via the Find A Lawyer search. Available for iOS and Android devices.
  • Florida Statutes for Android Florida Statutes for Android is the statutory law of the state of Florida for Android phones.
