Yasmina Assis is the Associate Director of the International Graduate Law Programs and Lecturer in Law. Before joining the law school, she practiced immigration law as a solo practitioner, focusing on family–based visa petitions and waivers of inadmissibility. Immediately prior to practicing immigration law as a solo practitioner, she was a staff attorney with the Pediatric Advocacy Initiative at the University of Michigan Law School.
She has represented survivors of domestic violence and victims of crimes in immigration matters and provided advice and legal representation in administrative hearings to low–income clients regarding termination of public assistance benefits.
Yasmina Assis is admitted to the Missouri and Michigan Bars. In Colombia she worked for almost ten years as an in-house counsel for a financial institution.
