Tunku Alina Alias, PhD is a consultant with the Malaysian legal firm of Wong Lu Peen & Tunku Alina, which she co-founded in 1992 and which specializes in Islamic Finance. She is also a mediator with the Malaysian Mediation Center and an associate mediator for the Singapore Mediation Council. She specializes in corporate and private investments and her academic interest lays with Islamic finance and philanthropy, in particular the Waqf (Islamic charitable foundation). Tunku Alina has been an adjunct Research Fellow with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) since January 2013. She holds an LLB from University of Malaysia, an LLM in corporate law from King’s College, London, and a PhD in Islamic Finance from INCEIF, Malaysia. She has published numerous articles on the subject, including: Venture Capital Strategies in Waqf Fund Investment and Spending, ISRA International Journal of Islamic Finance Vol. 4 Issue 1 2012, and a chapter on “Islamic Private Equity” in Textbook on Islamic Capital Market to be published by ISRA and Securities Commission Malaysia. At Miami Law she teaches Islamic Finance.
