Alex Schimel earned a B.F.A. with University Honors from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003, including a year of study at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris France. He earned a J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Miami in 2009, where he was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, Iron Arrow Honor Society, and Order of the Coif.
After law school, Mr. Schimel was an associate at Bilzin Sumberg LLP, where his practice focused on complex real estate transactions, primarily in the field of commercial mortgage backed securities and REO leasing. Prior to law school, Mr. Schimel worked at CNN, in the financial news bureau, where he covered financial markets and business news. Mr. Schimel also contributed to stories on the collapse of Enron, the capture of Saddam Hussein, and the 2004 presidential election. Previously, Mr. Schimel worked at Miramax Films, where he assisted with post production and marketing for several Academy Award winning films.
Mr. Schimel sits on the Bar Passage Committee of the AALS section on Academic Support. He is also a member of the Association of Academic Support Educators. Mr. Schimel is Associate Director of Miami Law's Academic Achievement Program and the author of the popular book Law School Exams: A Guide to Better Grades(Carolina Academic Press, 2012).
